Total Solar Eclipse

Greetings Families,

Centralia staff has used this extraordinary event to help spark students’ interest in science, learning how the moon moves between the sun and Earth, blocking sunlight and casting a shadow onto Earth.

However, we will not have any direct viewing activities at our school (with eclipse glasses). We are providing alternative activities (that are aligned in Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)) to learn about the eclipse and will be able to view the live stream online.

Students will have recess outside before to 10:00 a.m.ensuring they will be inside prior to the peak of the eclipse at approximately 10:21 a.m. Students will have the option of remaining indoors for recess and alternative activities will be offered.

Please remind your children that we should never look directly at the sun.

We are looking forward to this momentous phenomenon.
